How do you film an agricultural competition like an adventure? With "Agro Champion: The Challenge", Benin's first agricultural reality show, the OBA PROD Consulting team took on a bet: following fifteen contestants and a committed jury, challenge after challenge, from Grand-Popo to Sèmè-Podji. Here is the behind-the-scenes of this field production.
A bet: filming farming as a story
Farming is rarely shown on television, and almost never as a suspenseful competition. Yet that was the ambition of Agro Champion: to reveal a new generation of farming entrepreneurs, with the pace of a reality show and the standards of documentary. Our role: build a clear, embodied narrative without ever betraying the reality of working the land.
The challenge of the field
Shooting in open fields means dealing with whatever the ground imposes: shifting light, sudden rain, waterlogged plots. Our teams filmed through the downpours, protected the gear, and kept capturing the challenges without losing the thread of the story or the quality of the images.

Our setup
To convey the intensity of the challenges, we deployed a versatile crew: camera operators, direct sound, gimbal stabilisation to follow the action, and an organisation able to adapt within minutes. Responsiveness is decisive here: a challenge cannot be replayed.

What this project says about our craft
Agro Champion sums up what we do best: turning a demanding subject into a story that moves people, with the rigour of journalism and the care of cinema. The same approach applies to an institutional documentary, a corporate film or a TV programme.
